I loved this book…pure and simple, it hit the mark for me! The wonderful combination of humor and light hearted fun with angst and tear-jerking moments was executed perfectly and captured me completely from the very first page.
The funny thing about this book is that I’ve already met this couple…as a matter of fact, I already know exactly what happens to them in the future. You see, I’m reading this series completely out of order and, although this is the second book in the series, I’ve already read book 3 and the novella that ends the series. But, you know what’s amazing? I never once felt bored because I already know what’s going to happen. As a matter of fact, I actually felt more connected to Jake and Chelsea…I wanted desperately to know how they got to where they are now!
Ms. Chase writes from the male POV like no one else! She manages to give the reader just the right amount of male machismo with well timed peeks into the softer, more sensitive, parts of her male character’s psyche. I loved everything about Jake. His tough lawyer exterior, his humorous side, his sometimes inappropriate thoughts and the vulnerable side he tries to hide make is a totally swoonworthy book boyfriend. Add to that the way he behaves with those kids and, well, sigh..sigh…sigh!! He makes some smart decisions and some that leave you shaking your head but, never once, did I take off my “I love Jake” button…he was completely real and believable…and dreamy!! Chelsea was a wonderful character as well. Left to deal with 6 nieces and nephews when her brother and sister-in-law die in a horrible accident, she has her hands full. But, even though she’s overwhelmed, she’s still strong, selfless, and sassy. She’s a fierce fighter and will take on anyone to protect the ones she loves. Together, Jake and Chelsea have explosive chemistry!

So, here’s the bottom line, folks. If you haven’t read this series, you must do so now!! I know you will fall in love with these characters and their stories just like I did. I have one book left in the series and I’m almost afraid to read it…I don’t want it to end. Lucky for me, I’ll be ending with the first book which makes it very easy to begin a re-read!! Enjoy!!
